Credit Cards for People With No Credit

February 9, 2010

If you are looking for information on how to get a credit card for people with no credit, you are looking for a secure credit card company. Secured credit cards are meant for people with no credit history or a poor credit score. This means that if you haven’t purchased anything previously on credit than the credit agencies don’t know about you, and if they don’t know about you they’re not going to vouch for you with Visa, Mastercard, and the rest of the major credit providers.

A secure credit card is going to allow you to make a minimum down payment to obtain the card and will then build up your credit line as you make payments consistently over time. The payment on your credit card is going to change as you begin to charge more and more items to your credit card.

Another type of credit card that is available to someone who has no credit history is a small line of credit which can be obtained through your local jewelry store or gas station. A jewelry store is a good option that allows you to purchase a piece of jewelry that they have approved for you and will have you making a low monthly payment until it is paid off. Once you have begun to show that you are able to make a payment, a larger line of credit will be available to you.

When looking to purchase items on credit and you have not been qualified for a credit card because of not having any credit history, you will want to start out with a credit card to a local store in your area. This is the best way to start to build up a line of credit and will allow for the credit agencies to see that you are able to make payments on time and more credit options will open up to you. Eventually you’ll even be able to qualify for credit cards with rewards.
